Our Craftsmans Pine 13-Riser Straight Staircase is a carefully engineered wooden staircase for UK homes. Unlike entry-level MDF flights, this model uses EdgeLam engineered pine in the load-bearing parts to resist squeaks, hold fixings better and stand up to daily wear.

This pine upgrade increases lifespan and fixings pull-out resistance versus MDF, especially on family staircases.

Is pine really better than MDF for risers and treads?
For longevity and fixings retention, yes. EdgeLam Pine resists edge crumble and screw pull-out better than MDF, and it finishes like true timber.

Can I order white-primed strings?
Yes. Select White Primed 27 mm strings (adds £18). It speeds up decorating and gives a crisp painted finish on day one.

How do I choose the right width?
Measure balustrade lines or wall-to-wall. We offer 600–1000 mm overall string widths in 5 mm steps to suit tight stairwells.

Does it comply with Part K?
We size the going to keep pitch ≤ 42° and calculate 2R+G. If you push extremes, our configurator flags it before checkout.

Flatpack or assembled?
Assembled is quickest on site. Choose Flatpack if access is tight or you need to carry parts upstairs.
