S5W3W31N – Right-Hand Winding Staircase (No Handrails) | Trade Range

The S5W3W31N Right-Hand staircase is the most compact winding staircase layout within the Trade Range. By concentrating the direction change into the winder section, using five winder treads before the turn and one after, this layout allows the stair to reverse direction within an extremely limited footprint.

Turning to the right as you ascend, this version is supplied without handrails, making it ideal for staircases fitted between walls or where balustrade components will be installed separately.

Important stairwell opening & headroom guidance

Due to the tight geometry of this winding staircase, the shape of the stairwell opening has a direct impact on achievable headroom:

• A rectangular stairwell opening may be used

• However, to achieve the recommended 2.0m headroom, an L-shaped stairwell opening is required, extending in the direction of the stair as it winds

This additional opening length provides clearance above the winder treads, where headroom is most restricted. The stairwell opening should therefore be planned early in the design stage.
