SW3W36N – Left-Hand Winding Staircase (No Handrails)

The SW3W36N Left-Hand Winding Staircase is a compact 6-tread winder staircase designed for projects where space is restricted but a full turning stair is required. With all six winders forming a continuous turn, this layout is well suited to domestic stairwells, loft access, and tight floor plans where a straight or half-landing staircase isn’t practical.

This model is supplied without handrails, making it ideal where balustrading is provided separately or where the staircase is enclosed between walls. The left-hand configuration means the staircase turns to the left as you ascend.

Manufactured as part of our Trade Range, the SW3W36N offers an excellent balance of value, practicality, and compliance. When designed correctly, this layout can work within either a rectangular stairwell opening or an L-shaped stairwell opening, depending on available space and headroom requirements.

Stairwell Opening & Headroom Guidance

This 6-tread winding layout can be accommodated within a rectangular stairwell opening in some situations. However, where headroom is restricted, an L-shaped stairwell opening may be required to achieve the required 2.0m headroom under UK Building Regulations.

Final suitability should always be confirmed at the design stage, taking into account floor-to-floor height, stair pitch, and the position of the winders.
